Good question, let me clarify.

There are 3 “colors” for shea butter:

1. Ivory/cream/off-white. This is unrefined shea butter, pure, nothing added, nothing taken away. It has a characteristic nutty and smokey scent. This is the most popular shea butter with consumers who want natural, pure skin care. This is our #1 best seller, we call it “Unrefined Shea Butter – Ivory”.

2. White. This is refined shea butter. The ivory color and the nutty scent is taken away with different processes depending on the company that does it, but generally you need a bleaching agent and an odor removing chemical to achieve white, refined shea butter. We do not sell this type of shea.

3. Yellow. This is the ivory/cream/off-white color shea as in #1 above, with the addition of a root from an African tree called Borututu Tree. This root is orange/yellow and when used in small amounts, it will color the shea and give it a bright yellow tint, and it will also add extra antioxidants for your skin. We sell this shea, it’s called “Unrefined Shea Butter – Yellow” in our store.

How is the Ivory Shea unrefined if natural pure shea is yellow? Asking because I’m in the process of choosing between Ivory and yellow. I want my product to be as natural as possible and only want true unrefined. Thanks

Absolutely love this product!! It’s funny because I never really knew it existed until Christmas time when I told my In laws that I wanted a “Lush Bubble Bar” and they thought I said “Butter Bar” and bought me this product. BEST MISTAKE EVER!! I would have never known its devine quality If it were not for that silly misunderstanding. The Unrefined Ivory Shea Butter is my favorite beauty product and very easy to use. I haven’t really experimented with it yet, just been using it as it comes by rubbing/warming little bits in my hand and smoothing it over my skin where it needs it. I am curious however, does anyone know If you can use this product while pregnant? Silly question but I must know, I don’t know how my skin will survive without it!! (Go away stretch marks!!) If anyone can let me know, I would much appreciate it because I cannot live without my Unrefined shea butter LOL

I’ll try my best to keep it short but good… I am a savvy, sexy black boss mommy/wife and I have been natural well over 5 years now. The moment I cut all my hair off there was this awaking in me that all I wanted was natural stuff on me, so I starting using Shea butter to make mixes for my twist and anyone that I would style their hair. Then I moved into making mixes and bars for my body – and yes I did a little summin to make them amazing for my skin. Well now I’m selling my butters and the credit goes to Better Shea Butter. This butter / company is now and will be my saving grace to run too. It is now and will be a staple in my household. Thank you Better Shea Butter for providing amazing butters and better family customer services. BTW the whole family is using my mixes it even the grand kids from 0-5 yrs old. What’s lotion again??? LOL ; )

When I make my butters I use Better Shea Butter Mango, Shea and Cocoa I like to make several products at a time (i.e. body butters, hard lotion bars, and lip balm). I make my own beauty products, family holiday gifts, and I’m teaching my granddaughter how to make her own healthy (chemically free) products.
I like to use the ebook recipes, from Better Shea Butter and their YouTube videos. I also have a collection of essential oils, but you don’t really need them. I found the recipes to be easy and fun to do. You can make body butters, hard lotion bars, salt or sugar scrubs, lip balm, and many more products. I printed my book and have it in a special binder.
I don’t wear make up anymore and my husband and family compliment me on my skin. I also use Shea Butter in my hair to give it shine and to tame my sometimes wild white hair, lol. I always have two little jars on my bathroom counter, one for my mango butter and the other for my shea butter. Thank you for making such amazing products. Debbie

I LOVE this product!! I buy it in bulk to make soap and other homemade body products and remedies. It is the best I’ve used and gives even my unscented products a delightful cookie-like smell!!

Terrific products, and I love the recipes. I’ve made a sugar scrub which is great for life in the high desert where things are very dry as well as several types of creams and body butters. My skin loves them all!

I have heard of shea butter before and have used it but when I read an article from Better Shea Butter and learned of some other tips and ways to use it and how they were different from other butters I had to buy it and everything they said about it was true. I love it and my daughters do too so much that they tend to take mine so had to order again for their own. Keep up the great work and keep the suggestions coming.
